The Projects Have Been Chosen!

The selection of our winning project has come to an end. But before we make an announcement, a few short words and acknowledgements are due.

To those who had the courage to make a proposal, we thank you for the hard work and passion that went into the creation and development of the your ideas. Each project fully embodied the Biblion Project spirit, and if it weren't for those darn things known as resources, we would have loved to have undertaken every one of them.

Secondly, a big thanks to those you who took the time to vote. We know the decision was hard, but we have faith in our democratic methods and the capacity of our members to choose what best suits our association. Thank you.

And so, the moment that we've been waiting for, the winner is...

... the Child Education Project!

To tell you more, the Child Education Project will promote education and learning to children ages 11-12, both within and outside the traditional classroom setting. Basically, the Child Education Project draws upon the diversity of BiP members' backgrounds to offer French school-children the opportunity to have meaningful multicultural experiences. We hope that this project will expand the mental horizons of the impacted students by teaching them the values of tolerance and understanding in a globalizing, multi-ethnic world.

We will also be continuing the Books for Haïti project, partnering again with Bibliothèques Sans Frontières, who has kindly agreed to continue their support. Continuing this project permits us to capitalize upon our past connections and networks, while also making improvements in our communication and implementation strategies. We plan to target more bookstores in the Paris area in order to increase the ratio of textbooks we receive at the end of this semester. We also look forward to assisting Bibliothèques Sans Frontières on other projects related to Haiti, for example, sorting and cataloguing the more than 200,000 books located in their warehouse right outside of Paris.

Feel free to contact us for more information about our projects and ways that you can get involved!
