Historic Moment: Biblion Project's First Meeting

In the year of the Lord 2010, on this glorious day of 19 September, I have the honor to relate to you a moment that shall rest ingraved in marble for all of posterity: the First Meeting of the Heroic Members of Biblion Project!

This historical event took place in the garden of the Fondation des Etats-Unis (American House), where our team was joined by a handful of motivated and inspired individuals, all to our great joy.

Welcome to Aardharsh, a young woman from India and former student of HEC;
to Laura, from Venezuela, a researcher in education and cultural studies;
to Lisa, Kelly, and Megan, first-year Masters students at the American Graduate School who recently arrived from the United States;
to Parth, a young gentleman from India currently studying international relations at the University of Cergy-Pontoise;
to Julien, a French engineer;
to Michael, American, also studying at the American Graduate School, who brings a past experience in education to our team;
to Julie and Codi, French and American (respectively), who could not make it to our first meeting but who have kindly agreed to help us.

Again, Biblion Project thanks each of you for your presence at today's meeting! We're both extremely lucky and deeply thankful to have such a great group of new members who want to contribute to Biblion Project this year. No doubt exists in my mind that together we can make Biblion Project useful to the public and personally fulfilling to its members.

The purpose of the meeting being to make known and explain Biblion Project's objective, and given that Biblion Project's statutes are in the final stages of being revised before being posted to this blog, a few things to remember:
Biblion Project is a student club that aims to promote education and knowledge through various humanitarian projects.

Brandon (its President), Joe (its Treasurer), Fabiani, (its, uh, éminence grise), and myself, humble secretary, compose its Board of Directors.
Our objective is to permit its other members - you, my friends! - to mount and lead your very own humanitarian projects, with our support, whether that be human, legal, structural, and financial... All while having fun, working with people from different cultures, perfecting your English/French, and discovering Paris.

According to your degree of desired engagement, you could become the Director of an Executive Team leading your project! Want to get involved leading a project but not feeling up to the challenge of Director? You might consider joining an Executive Team to help the Director with the management and implementation of a project. And for the others, there's always the opportunity to come to meetings from time to time to see what we're doing, or to give a helping hand during the occasional fundraiser or information session. Biblion Project offers a wide range of opportunities that allow you to make the most of the time you contribute.

Membership - open after having attended 3 meetings, and by coming to at least 1 meeting every two months - allows you to vote and have an input on a number of issues. We will soon have the occasion to inaugurate this glorious right, since next week (26/09) a new meeting will be dedicated to brainstorming and reviewing project ideas; and the week after, 03/10... our members vote on the project(s) that we'll undertake for the coming months.

Speaking of uniting the useful with the pleasant, Fabiani has proposed that we prepare all of the above with a picnic in a park close by, or in a Pub if the weather goes awry. And so children, prepare your ideas and your provisions: we'll see you soon!
